I think he could help a team like the Twins or Indians, JonGarland is a very good pitcher he never is on the DL and when his sinker ball is working for him he gets the win. He had very good years with the White Sox thats why I think he would really benefit the Twins or Indians he plays very good in the AL Central. The White Sox think they have enough pitching but I think they could use a 5th starter, Freddie Garcia is getting old and he can be wild at times, It seems like every year the White Sox are missing that 5th stater it is to bad Kenny Williams is not smart enough to get 5 good starters. Well only time will tell to see where Jon Garland will go I hope it will be to a good team because he is a great pitcher .. NEW YORK (Reuters) - Retailers aiming to survive the recession, and perhaps gain ground when the economy recovers, will need to invest in everything from new tools for customer service to information technology, experts with consulting firm Deloitte said on Monday EconomyU.S.
store chains from Best Buy Co (BBY.N) to Dillard's (DDS.N) have cut jobs or pared store growth to salvage profits in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. "And no industry is going to be more affected than retail."He said decreasing consumer credit and restrictions on lending will limit retail expansion and lead to more bankruptcies and consolidation. But unlike the past, many retail chains won't emerge from bankruptcy in this cycle, he said.Economic recovery, when it comes, will not be driven by consumer spending as it has been traditionally, but by businesses bringing manufacturing back to the United States, rising global exports and more government spending."We're going to see a dramatic increase in the role of government, not just in terms of its regulatory structure but also in terms of its spending level in our economy to a degree that we have never seen before," Steidtmann said.(Reporting by Karen Jacobs; editing by Richard Chang) Economy. (Adds details on medicine, rival drugs, terms of deal) Stocks NEW YORK, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY.N)said on Monday it would pay tiny biotechnology companyZymoGenetics Inc (ZGEN.O) $105 million to license, develop andsell its experimental new form of interferon to treat hepatitisC. Longer term, Bristol-Myers said it could pay ZymoGeneticsup to $1 billion in additional milestone payments if themedicine now in early-stage trials meets a series ofdevelopment, regulatory and sales targets, including success intreating other conditions. Schering-Plough Corp SGP.N and Roche Holding AG (ROG.VX)sell forms of interferon alfa that are mainstays of treatmentfor hepatitis C, a virus that can severely harm the liver overtime and is the leading cause of liver transplants.

But the interferons, which are taken for a year incombination with an antiviral pill called ribavirin, can causeflu-like symptoms that deter patients from sticking with thetreatment. New York-based Bristol-Myers and ZymoGenetics said theirproduct is a different form of interferon called interferonlambda that has potential to be safer and more effective and tomore easily target the virus. "Interferon lambda mediates anti-viral activity through areceptor that is distinct from that used by Interferon (alfa)and is present on fewer cell types within the tissues of thebody," the drugmakers said in a joint release. Bristol-Myers and ZymoGenetics said they would co-developinterferon lambda in the United States and Europe and sharedevelopment costs.
ZymoGenetics will have the option to co-market the drug inthe United States and share profits with Bristol-Myers, shouldthe medicine succeed in clinical trials and be approved byregulators, the companies said. Bristol-Myers will be responsible for selling the drugoverseas, and pay royalties to the smaller company. (Editing by Carol Bishopric; editing by Richard Chang) Stocks. Ryan Braun won his second straight Silver Slugger award, putting him with the likes of Molitor and Cooper for Brewers who have won the award in consecutive years. Congrats Brauny! This story about a guy who worked for Lambeau for 22 years getting fired probably because of something he did or didn’t say to Mike McCarthy angers me. I’ve stood up for McCarthy in the past, but that might be ending. I’ve been very unhappy with his play calling this year, his inability to change/help the team’s flaws, and if he really was this immature and bitter after the loss to the Vikings, then that’s just ridiculous and not what you want from a leader.
